Sunlite


Sunlite- Folding table, saw horses, globe, lights, a stool, motors, wood, clamps, jeweler anvil, and mixed media.

The rotating globe and the model Sputnik that orbits it are projected onto the wall through a lens in the middle of the table, while the stars are projected onto the wall by camera obscura holes in the table.

Ignition, Liftoff


Ignition, Liftoff- Toaster oven, electric typewriter, thermal paper, model space shuttle, rare earth magnets, motor, wood, saw, C clamps, and wood saw.

The typewriter continuously pulls the thermal paper past the toaster oven, which turns the paper black and is viewed as the smoke from the shuttle, which is held in place by magnets.

Cosmic Camping


Cosmic Camping- Portable DVD player, wood, cardboard, contact paper, and wire.

A 3D video/viewer with stereoscopic images of Mars, provided by NASA.

Launch Pad


Launch Pad- Plywood, television, DVD player, model rocket, fuse, and staples.

The TV shows hands making sparks with flint and steel. The fuse was lit during a performance.

Choppin' and Strummin'



Choppin' and Strummin'- Wooden chair, children's guitar, styrofoam, cardboard, paper, string, oscillating fan, wire, guitar pick, nylon strap, c-clamps, and coffee jug.

The oscillation of the fan brings down the axe, splits the log, and strums the guitar.

iCamp



iCamp- PVC, light bulb, marshmallow, wire, bucket, contact paper, harmonica, hair dryer, Plastic tubing, motor.

The motor rotates the marshmallow over the campfire and moves the harmonica, which is played by the hairdryer.

Intensity Capture



Intensity Capture- (2010) Filing Cabinet, copy machine, Plexiglas, red and green lasers, electric switches, batteries, motor, tin can, tape, wood, nylon strap, and hardware.

Made during a collaboration with a scientist from the National Institute of Health.

Halley vs. Sputnik



Halley vs. Sputnik- Clock, wire, lamp, batteries, PVC, bar clamp, wall outlet, light bulb, and printed acetate.

The images of Halley's Comet, Sputnik, and Monument Valley are projected onto the wall while they are rotated my the second, minute, and hour hands of the clock.

Star Gazin'






Star Gazin'- Telescope, television, paint, nylon strap, chip board, copper wire, inkjet print, and cotton

When looking through the telescope, the printed image of the space shuttle and the painted television align, creating a background of flickering stars.
